Wings For Life World Run - A New Record!
Mother nature was shining down on Team C6 yesterday morning as we laced up, hitting the pavement at 7am to give hope for a cure to all those affected by spinal cord injuries in the Wings For Life World Run.
Because of the unique race format, runners and wheelchair users with completely different ability levels could race together, connected by the Wings for Life World Run App. Interest was so high that Wings for Life World Run was trending on Twitter, and the run’s Instagram page actually crashed for a moment at the start.
C6.ca’s team members Martha, Carrie, Didi, Racheal, Jennifer, Yakira, Eric, Allison, Charush, Akash and their families joined more than 185,000 runners from 195 countries worldwide to raise money for spinal cord research – a cause that is near and dear to our hearts.
A special thanks to Racheal, our Team Captain, for motivating us all to walk, roll, sprint or run a total of 41 KM yesterday: achieving a global ranking of 4,362nd and being part of a new record for the world’s largest run.
“I’M AT A LOSS FOR WORDS. THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS IS SO MUCH BIGGER THAN WHAT WE DARED TO DREAM OF. ALL I CAN SAY IS THANK YOU TO EACH AND EVERY PERSON WHO RAN, WALKED OR ROLLED WITH US TODAY," SAID WINGS FOR LIFE CEO ANITA GERHARDTER.
“TOGETHER, WE’VE CELEBRATED LIFE AND RAISED AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT TO HELP FIND A CURE FOR SPINAL CORD INJURY.”
Through Team C6 registration fees, social media sharing and 10% of our online store sales from yesterday, we were able to collectively raise $1915 of the more than $6 Million dollars amassed across the globe that will go directly towards spinal cord research!
A heartfelt thank you to the C6 customers that shopped with us yesterday, those that cheered us on and those who were able to donate to this life saving cause – we truly appreciate your support.
See you all again on May 8, 2022 at next year’s race!
